APPLICATIONS PRODUCTION BY-PRODUCT – CRUDE GLYCERIN Crude glycerin is not normally considered a fuel but with the Green Power Machine, crude glycerin can be reformed into hydrogen snygas and heat. This provides an economic and environmental solution to industries that presently are generating crude glycerin as a by-product while producing their main product(s). Biodiesel refineries produce glycerin as a by-product of their production process. Crude glycerin is also a by-product of making biomass oils, animal fats, refining of oils such as olive oil, palm oil, and many other oil products. At one time, glycerin was in great demand. It was used in foods, medicine, paints, chemicals and a variety of other products but today, whole new chemistries using polymers, latex, etc. have been developed thereby reducing the need for crude or refined glycerin in many products. Because of this reduced need for crude glycerin and because of the rush to manufacture biodiesel, there is a growing world glut of crude glycerin. With the Biomass to Energy Systems, crude glycerin (a biomass by-product) is reformed to hydrogen syngas and used for heat and the production of electricity and cooling. This means that biodiesel refineries and other processers can take what is presently a waste by-product of their production and consume the crude glycerin onsite to offset their operational costs. The crude glycerin can also be sold as a biomass fuel to other users of the Green Power Machine.
